We’ve Raised The Bar. Again. The 2010 Madone 6 Series is lighter, stiffer, more comfortable, and better integrated—and we’ve got the specs to prove it.We lightened the new 6 Series Madone by 150 grams (that’s a third of a pound). We stiffened the front end by 17%, for more confident handling at speed. We enhanced comfort with a newly designed and patent-pending fork steerer and seatmast. We took integration to a whole new level with an exquisite internal cable system for beautiful lines and perfect shifting. And the new recessed DuoTrap sensor system accepts most popular training computers for seamless integration. In every category, the 6 Series is simply the best bike ever produced.
The Industry’s Best Cable ManagementOur sleek, innovative new cable system allows the 6 Series Madone to shift flawlessly and brake better, and it’s simpler to assemble and maintain. Cable performance never looked so good.
Shimano Di2 IntegrationShimano’s new-this-year Di2 electronic drivetrain is already race proven, and sure to be the hottest thing to hit the bicycle drivetrain biz in a while. Lesser framesets can’t integrate with Di2 seamlessly—but Madone 6 Series features a specially designed battery mount and Di2-specific cable routing and stops for clean, seamless integration with the future of cycling.
Bottom Bracket ShellMost bottom bracket shells are 68mm wide, because that’s the width of the standard bottom bracket. But for Madone, standard isn’t good enough. Our bottom bracket shell is 90mm. This wider, stiffer shell allows quicker takeoff, easier climbing, and faster acceleration.
Ride Tuned™ seatmastOur seatmast system was already light and comfortable—but we couldn’t leave well enough alone. We reshaped the seatmast to drop another 30 grams and add 47% more vertical compliance. Now it’s lighter and more comfortable than ever.
DuoTrap SensorSo what else can we do with the Madone 6 Series that’s never been done before? Integrate a computer sensor into the frame that measures speed, distance, and cadence, and works with all the major players who use ANT+ wireless technology: Bontrager, Garmin, PowerTap, SRM...you get the idea.
Load Path Tube ShapingTube shapes matter. They affect comfort, ride quality, frame weight, and aerodynamics. Finding the best combination from among nearly infinite possibilities required the best engineering team in the industry: ours. By examining force loads on every inch of a frame, they reduced enough material to make the frame 100 grams lighter. Along the way, they laterally stiffened the front end by 17% for even better handling.
The First Asymmetric ForkA bicycle fork has to do a lot of grunt work—handle extraordinary force loads, give you lateral rigidity when cornering, offer frontal compliance to absorb road imperfections. The new 6 Series Bontrager Race XXX Lite fork does all that and more. We reshaped the fork steerer from round to oval to achieve 15% more frontal compliance to smooth the road, 20% more lateral stiffness when cornering, and 30 grams less weight than the 2009 fork. That means a lighter, stronger, better-handling, AND more comfortable ride.
Every 6 Series Madone is built with Trek's highest-performance and most sophisticated carbon fiber – OCLV Red, which uses a significant percentage of high modulus carbon fiber arranged according to our most complex lay-up schedules.
OCLV2. Pushing Carbon Further.Introducing OCLV2. Our new carbon process that produces the OCLV Red frame of our 6 Series Madones. Stepjoint technology, Net Molded bottom brackets, Resin Right molding—these Trek-only processes result in unprecedented quality control, exquisite ride quality, and the world’s best strength and stiffness values per frame weight. The best carbon, for the best ride.
Stepjoint™ TechnologyStepjoint technology is a Trek-exclusive way to bond two carbon structures together perfectly, with no overlap, no excess carbon, and consistent tube wall thickness throughout. That means stronger joints, more consistent ride quality, and a better finish.
Net Molding™Using defense/aerospace-grade Hex MC material available only in the US, and only to approved vendors, this Trek proprietary process forms the bottom bracket bearing surface as part of the carbon frame, eliminating heavy bearing cups. It also lets us build the widest bottom bracket shell in the industry, for a frame that’s stronger, lighter, stiffer, simpler. In other words: better.
Resin Right™Our Resin Right molding process accurately controls the distribution of resin throughout the carbon fiber material to ensure a consistent carbon structure, eliminating resin pockets or voids. Resin Right keeps the material consistent and gives you the confidence that your frame is flawless, inside and out. |
