I'm now in QENA, a city where temples of Dendara lies.
There is a long story for you, what happened this morning. I left Luxor as early as 5:00, hoping that I can reach here QENA, which is only 63 km away before the sun becomes too hot. But unfortunately, I was stopped by the local policeman, at a checking point on the way. They are so surprised that a foreigner is traveling alone. After asking their senior officer in the telephone, they told me that I am  not allowed to travel like this, it's danerous, I have to go there by bus, the "Police Convoy". I think I have mentioned this before, in Eypty they got once or several times a day to escort the  forgein passengers from city A to B. If you want to go there by TAXI, you are also required to take the "Police Convoy".They got policeman who sit on your bus, with guns in their hands. But now , I am alone, and only with my bike. So they asked me to go back to the city and take the bus at 9:00.

Despite all the efforts I made, they won't let me go. They can speak good English, so I explained that I'm traveling by bike all over the world, and have been to many countries. I show my passport with many visas on it, but it didn't work. I also sent them some "Tiger Oil" which I took from China as gift. But they said they can realize my position, but due to security reasons, I am not allowed to go to QENA like this.

They are very polite, but very firm. After half an hour of negotiation,  it seems there is no chance for me. The main road is along side a cannel. But in this period, I found that there is also a road, a dusty small bypass on the other side of the cannel which goes in parellel with this one.  This small lane is behind the village, if I can go through this way, they could have no conscious about me.

So finally, I decide to do like this.

So I pretended to say: Ok, then I go back to Luxor city ,and say goodby to them. But actually, I found a bridge which can lead me to the other side of this cannel.

This bypass is really behind the village, and I think they can not see me because I was already shaded by the palm trees. But the road is very bad. As you know, SP16 is not designed for a off-road riding like a mountain bike. Maybe it's the right season for harvesting sugar canes, so all the road was paved by the leaves, it was very soft, so it made me more difficult to ride on it. But I had no choice, since I think , the check point I have just met with might not be the only one, there must be more awaiting for me on the way!

So, despite the road was tough and dusty, I dare not to go to the main road which is only 50 meters away opposite the cannel. But the advantage to go on a way like this is that I paid a visit to the real Egyption village. Their houses are made by mud stone, which just the same as Mosses made 3000 years ago. They plaugh their field, raise their cattles. I think their life may have not changed too much since the times of Akenaton. But occationally, a ring of mobile phone came from their Egytion-style clothes break the silence of this small village that lies quietly along side the River Nile, which remind you that you are now in the 21th century.

But also, there is a disadvantage, a big disadvantage beside the tough road here --- the dog. Every family here got a dog, or even more......  they chased around me, I can even feel their breath on my leg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And apparently, some of them were biting my bike bags behind me!!!!!!!

And, what's more, one of these brave dogs even tried to bite on me! Thanks for the god, my pants was so thick that I only felt his sharp teeth "tenderly kissed on my skin"...........and then, he fled away.........................

After 15 km riding on a road like this, finally my patience gone. But I found where ever there is a bridge that across the cannel, there is a guard!

Finally, I found a bridge where there is no guard, but,  I was so unlucky that only had I enjoyed a  smooth road of 500 meters, there is another check point waiting for me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They stopped me again.
Again, they were very polite, again, they took a chair for me, again, they asked me where I was going, again they said they will ask their senior officer........

I began to realize my destiny would be finally sent back to Luxor by police.............

But, what about tomorrow? Should I expect to find another bypass behind an other village? Should I expect to meet another gan of dogs which got sharp teeth? ...............

I think all of you will ask the same question on me, if the police pay such attention on the foreign travelers, that mean the situation is very very serious to you, otherwise they don't need to do so, is that right? Are you unconscious about that ? Don't you know the attacks that happend in Egypt?

Yes, of course, I know that very well, better than any of you, may be. I can even tell you the last 10 attacks happened here in the past few years, in Cairo, in Luxor, in Taba, and laso on the way from Luxor to Aswan.

But, let me tell you something  what does it mean by  "terriorists" in my mind.

Terrorists are a group of people, full of talent, with specified goals and well organized experts in various fields, such as weapons, bombs,etc.  Before the action, they will calculate precisely what kind of people should be attacked, and when should be attacked, how many people should die this time,  and what nationality should take the most. And also, what should they do after the attack. What should be asked from the government........

Do you beleive that a well-organized terrorists will attach a guy  who randomly ride a bike along the way, and cause  uncertian  results? And if you fail, you have to wait for another 10 years to meet anther guy like him ?
If you do like this, I can tell you that you are not qualified to be a real terrorist, you are only somebody mad.

So, in this case, or otherwise we can say, in most of the time, you are somewhat more dangerous of taking a so called "police convey" bus that transfer from one city to another daily.

Ofcourse, attacks in the past few years do cause a significant death roll, as much as 200, maybe. But , if this number, 200, is divided by the millions of tourists that visted Egypt each year, you will soon find out that this ratio is no more than the risk of a aircraft crash.

So, don't be too serious about that, take it easy everyday, do what you want to do, and enjoy your life.

I had never tried to write such a long English aritical in my life time, even if in the TOFEL, if they do have an item of composition like this. More seriously, if you made a bad mistake in your test paper, only your teacher knows. But, if you made a mistake here, on the web, thousands of people here are "enjoying" your disgusting English.

Thank you for Kahn and all the others who helped me to translate my words into Chinese,  I think there must be some mistakes involved here, it wll be very appreciated if you can point it out.

今天早上发生的事有很长的时间好讲。我一大早，5点钟就离开了“Luxor”，希望我能够在太阳变得很热前就能够到达只有63公里外的“Qena”。但不幸运的是，在一个检查站，我被当地的J C拦住了。他们很诧异一个外国人居然一个人在旅行。在电话请示了他们的上级以后，他们告诉我不能够这样旅行，这样一个人太危险了，我必须坐大巴过去，J C护送。我想我前面也提到了，在埃及他们一天从A地到B地有好几次的护卫队专门护送外国人。如果你想坐的士去那里，你也会被要求坐J C护送的大巴。他们有J C一起坐在你的大巴上，手中配备着枪。但现在，我只有一个人，以及我的单车。所以他们叫我回到城市里去然后在9点钟坐车。

他们很礼貌，但立场也很坚定。过了半小时的谈判以后，看上去还是没有机会给我放行。这条主路在一个煤矿边上，在这时，我发现边上还有一条路，一条满是灰尘的和主路并行的旁路。这条小路在村庄后面，如果我能够走这条路，那他们应该不会注意到我。

So finally, I decide to do like this.
所以最后，我决定这样做。

这条小路的确在村庄后面，而且我想他们不会看见我因为我被棕榈树遮住了。但这条路很难走。就像你所知道的，SP16不是为了在像山地车一样在公路下骑行而设计的。可能现在正是甘蔗的收获季节，所以整条路上都铺满了树叶，它很软，所以使得我在上面骑行更加困难了。但我没有别的选择，因为我想，我碰到的检查站不会仅仅只有一个，在后面的路上肯定还有更多的检查站等着我！

所以，尽管这条路很艰难，满是灰尘，但我不敢回到只有50米外的煤矿对面的主路上。但这样上路的好处是，我可以拜访到真正的埃及村庄。他们的房子是用泥石建造的，就像3000年前的摩挲人做的一样。他们犁地，养牛。我想他们的生活自从“Akenaton”时期以来可能没有变化太多。但有时，一阵手机的铃声从他们的埃及式的服装里就打破了这个安静地依偎在尼罗河畔的小村庄的宁静，让你意识到你还是在21世纪。
