Kelty 公司创始人简介：
Kelty先生被誉为“框架背包之父”，他设计了第一个铝架背包、第一个腰带、第一个泡沫填充肩带、第一个尼龙包体、第一个拉链袋（还有the first hold-open bar; and the first use of clevis pins不知道如何翻译，在这看到背包上用的“Clevis  Pins”，在Kelty外架包上的用法示意图）等等，其中腰带是他最重要的发明，这些发明使背包徒步成为一个享受，肩膀不再痛苦，从此可以负重背包走得更远、更长。

　　1952年他借了500美金在加州Glendale格兰岱尔市的自家里开始制作Kelty背包：他的妻子Nena在厨房餐厅里缝制，而他在车库里制作铝框架。这些背包主要卖给他在Sierra Club的朋友，24美金一个，当年卖出29个。之后的两年分别卖出90和220个，不久开始邮件订购业务。

　　1956年 Kelty 先生把他们的作坊搬到市区，有了更大的生产空间。

　　一年后，他开始专职于背包生产，成立Kelty户外用品公司。

In 1952, Dick Kelty, a carpenter, builder, and avid outdoorsman, started making backpacks for his friends in the Sierra Club for 24 dollars each.These 24-dollar packs revolutionized backpacking, implementing for the first time Kelty's ideas of a hip belt, padded shoulder straps, nylon pack bag fabrics and lighter aluminum frames. Soon, Kelty and his friends were exploring the Sierra Nevada’s with heavy loads, no shoulder pain, going farther, longer, and happier into the wilderness than ever before.
These original packs focused on comfort and light weight. Providing a combination that had not existed in packs up until then.

1953, Kelty introduced padded shoulder straps constructed of wool carpeting cut into strips. These straps in conjunction with more pack bag pockets and the waist belt further increased comfort and convenience to a growing number of outdoor enthusiasts.

1956 Dick Kelty quit his carpentry business to focus on Kelty full time.

1973 Kelty introduced the breakthrough Tioga external framed backpack. The Tioga was the first “full featured” backpack. Made of waterproof fabric this popular pack featured 5 exterior pockets, a hold open frame and clevis pin attachment, padded shoulder straps and the first quick release waist belt buckle.

In the early Seventies Dick sold the business, ending his direct involvement with Kelty.

1975 Kelty introduced the Tour pack, one of the industry’s
first internal frame packs.

1997, Kelty relocated its offices from St. Louis, Missouri to Boulder Colorado.

1999 Backpacker Magazine awarded Kelty the prestigious Editors Choice award for innovative design of it’s Kelty KIDS Explorer carrier.

Good Housekeeping magazine recognizes the Kelty Juniper daypack as an industry leading design.

Kelty started as a company making it easier for friends to enjoy the wilderness, and that's what we still do. We just have a few more friends.
